Permethrin is an insecticide that belongs to the pyrethroid family. Pyrethroids are synthetic chemicals used for a number of reasons like insect control. Products of permethrin are used in public health mosquito control. They are used on food and feed crops, on ornamental lawns,on livestock and pets, in structures and buildings, and on clothing also. Permethrin was first registered under the United States Environmental Protection Agency in 1979, and was
re-registered in 2006.
